In many descriptions of Russian/Caucasus natural parks, e,g,
among MANY, mention is made of bos urus.
I suspect that it stems from promotional zeal as well as a Russian/East
European tradition of translating European Bison=wisent as aurochs, which
looked up in a dictionary, renders as bos urus.
